The Spring Fairy
I was not going to submit another model, but a few things converged into shaping this one, and I couldn't resist! First, I enjoyed building the Spanish dancer for my first submission; second, I have been reading an interesting essay about fantasy (which cannot be named for IP reasons); third, I've just been in the tulip fields in The Netherlands; and fourth, I've been building some LEGO sets lately that use the new flame pieces, which I thought would be ideal as the wings of a fairy. Thus, this fairy that makes the flowers grow as she walks is the result of mixing up those concepts.
For me, an ideal gift of purchase would be a nice display piece that included some of the most interesting new parts found in recent sets, hopefully in rare colours. Also, they would be used in a novel way, featuring some unusual techniques. This model ticks those boxes, and may be one of the rare rewards that makes me decide to buy from LEGO on day one.
