Summer Water Skiing

My dream LEGO gift with purchase would be a set that combines my love for LEGO with one of my hobbies or passions. Every summer, I enjoy heading to the beach and enjoying water sports from body surfing to boating. This entry combines my love for LEGO and water sports in a beautiful display model. This gift with purchase is equally great for play as the boat easily detaches from its stand, leaving plenty of room for boating imagination and play. As a bonus, this couple's dog is joining in on the fun too!

My initial inspiration for this model began when I challenged myself to build a speed boat using the relatively new 10x2x2 wedge piece. Once I was happy with my design, I began building a stand. The boat is angled back slightly using a hinge piece to give it a more dynamic appearance. Finally, I lengthened the stand to include boat wake and space for a water skier. The total part count is 232 pieces, including the minifigures, dog, and their accessories.
