James Watt Tribute: Steam Rotary Engine 1776 (249pc)
Happy AP season! I saw this contest and thought it was an excellent opportunity to build something to help me study. This is the James Watt steam engine developed in 1776. I thought it was the perfect example of what STEM means: Science, Technology, Engineering and Math or STEAM: Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math! :D This was such an amazing experience to see how the engine worked and the challenge of adapting it into lego. The Watt engine helped create the Industrial Revolution and allowed steam power to be used for more than mining. His major contribution was improving the Newcomen engine fixing the condenser and making it far more productive. It caused a greater demand for coal which allowed Britain to be more unified making way for railways giving rise to the locomotive steam engine. I included a kettle as Watt watched the kettle boil inspiring his passion for steam and science. Overall, this was so fun! I can't wait to see how I do on my AP test going for a 5.
