Encountering New Cultures
What could make a vacation more enjoyable than encountering new cultures? To represent this, I included an important factor of culture: language. Communicating with others is the best way to understand their background and lifestyle and helps us to see the diversity of our world.
Each of the continents on the globe has a number that correlates with a language on the key. These languages are just a sample of the many that are spoken on the continents. The key includes from left to right: 'Hello' in English, Spanish, Arabic, French, Chinese, and the Australian dialect for 'good day.'
I put a fun spin on this theme by portraying an astronaut encountering a new culture on the moon in the form of an alien.
This model includes an astronaut and an alien having a picnic on the moon, a 2-D globe, a miniature rocket, and a key that has hello written in six different languages/dialects that are spoken in the six inhabited continents.
The set includes 250 pieces.
