Tropical Shores Pop-up Story
Pirates on the high seas, volcanic ash, tree houses and more!
This pop-up insert depicts a traditional pirate island. It includes:
- Two enormous trees with ramps and rope bridges connecting them.
- Cave / shrine entrance.
- Volcano with billowing cloud of ash.
- Overlook, with two pitched tents among palm trees.
- Natural stone arch with waterfall in the background.
- Pirate micro fig, sailing ship, and more!
The entire build folds up in the pop-up book, as seen in the final picture.
Notable points of difficulty:
- The ash cloud. While similar in nature to the beanstalk, it was built in reverse to make room for the waterfall. Most of the 2x2 round tiles are attached to Technic half pins, so they can rotate out of the way as the arms move.
- The shrine entrance. The opening uses 1x1 corner panels with one upside down. This is attached with a clip to a 1x1 round plate with bar.
- The lower palm trees. The third stem is built into the rock wall and concealed by two clip wrapping around it.
