The Emerald City
You're off to see the Wizard! After re-watching the original Wizard of Oz movie, I was inspired to make a pop-up version of the classic story. Some elements of it are borrowed from the 1939 movie, and others are my own imagination. I knew I had to include the yellow brick road leading from the munchkin village (in the East) and the Witch's castle in the West. Inside the Emerald city, the Wizard can be seen... hiding behind a curtain while he puppeteers a giant head! For this entry I wanted to make the city spread out as big as possible, so I had two towers which automatically fold down as you open the book and fold back into the wall when you close it. The wall extensions fold in neatly as well, and the battlements use hinged bricks to fold to a thickness of two studs. Oz's balloon is moored at a platform to the side ready for a speedy getaway when necessary. Everything in the entry folds up, nothing must be removed.
See you at the Emerald City, and don't forget your green glasses!
