The Old Mill: A Silly Symphony
This model is inspired by a "Silly Symphony" short created by Disney before its first full-length feature was released. "The Old Mill" (1937) truly embodies what Disney has come to be known for: enchanting music, thrilling climaxes, beautiful animation, and, of course, adorable animals! This is reflected in the model by the presence of three frogs, two lovestruck doves, a wide-eyed owl, a sleepy bat hidden within the roof, and a bluebird couple eagerly awaiting a little egg's hatching. One of the spinning wings also contains a hinge brick that allows some of it to be partly separated, recreating the scene when the wing is split by lightning, but still allowing the option for it to be positioned in a way that gives it an intact appearance for display purposes. Also, the limited colour palette makes for a lovely-looking set that might interest even those who are not familiar with this celebrated Disney short.
