Mad Tea Party (Teacup Ride)
For this challenge I knew that I wanted to build something based upon Disney’s classic 1951 film Alice in Wonderland! After much consideration, I realized that I also needed to express my deeply held (childhood) admiration of Disneyland!
I present to you my favorite ride: Mad Tea Party! An original Disneyland ride that premiered at the park’s opening in July 1955. Affectionately known as The Teacups, it is one of the best rides to this day!
This model represents one tea cup with two riders: Alice and the Cheshire Cat! It rotates when one of the four gears is spun and can rotate either direction, or as the user chooses. The base is designed to allude to movie references as well as the garden-like feel of the ride, including the lanterns (teapots). It is entirely brick-built from 520 elements.
