LEGO mastermind
An interactive LEGO idea-maker... designed to inspire the Master Builders of Tomorrow.
As a child, I remember one of the great things about LEGO, and as their advertising of the time suggested, it could be “a new toy everyday”. Keeping that idea in mind, I also remember sometimes wondering what I might try to build next. The LEGO “mastermind” (working title) would be a helper for when a person is searching for that sometimes elusive spark that can set their creativity in motion. The voice of this interface could be chosen, not unlike Amazon’s Alexa or Apple’s Siri... male or female selections and different languages would be options that could be somewhat customized to suit the individual user. “What shall I build today?”, the user could ask.
”Well young master builder, what do you like? Tell me? Pick a category or maybe you would prefer something random?” Categories could include space, city, vehicles, buildings and other structures... They could actually mimic many or all of LEGO’s existing themes. They could even include contests and synch up with all available LEGO ideas online. USB? Wi-Fi, Bluetooth.
As for the physical appearance of this LEGO “Mastermind” it could take a simple, yet iconic form (like a monolith or idol?). My thinking would be to keep it simple, housing the necessary components. It could actually just be a doc that could plug in with a smart device or an Alexa... Maybe an Alexa housing (I see an Amazon LEGO collaboration already in the works). Either way, as a separate unit or as a dock/interface it should come with a blank LEGO surfaced slate. A person could then customize it with provided pieces. Ears, eyes, expressive mouths, hairstyles... sets could be sold with Egyptian themes, Mayan, Inca, Aztec, Easter Island, Athletes, Scientists... these, after the simple blank slate of say black, white, grey, red, yellow or blue were purchased that contained the electronics (with built-in speaker and mic). Possible challenge mode. Praise always.
