The Braille Box
This is a voice
controlled braille box. It is for use with the new braille bricks that the Lego
Foundation is currently testing. Six rows of alphabetized braille bricks with
one blank space are arranged on conveyor belts. Each row is controlled by one
of the motors which responds to a voice command to spell out a given word of
six or fewer letters. In the example, that word is LEGO. If some one wanted to
expand the number of possible letters to 12 they could add another bank of
motors and rows coming from the other direction.
This device is
designed to help children of ALL abilities learn to spell since all that’s
necessary is to say the word and the box will demonstrate how it's spelled. I
hope you like it.
