My Ultimate Dream Home

I’ve always wished I could have a efficient and eco friendly home. I’ve also been fascinated by renewable forms of energy and now “smart products” and how combined with voice assistances they have the ability to help certain people be more independent who might be differently able as well as allowing people to be more clever about how they use there energy and turning things of when not needed.

The house has two sources of energy. It has two LEGO solar panels on the roof (one is sufficient for the needs of my idea but would love two) and an e-motor acting as a generator for the wind turbine with the LEGO blade pieces. The reason I decided on this was because then you have two forms of power, for example say it is a particularly cloudy week, it is usually windier and makes up for this and vice versa or at night there is wind energy but no solar energy. But like I just said there is not always sun or wind and sometimes there are nether. This is why my dream home would have a LEGO energy meter and storage (this is all from the LEGO education set 9688). The energy meter only allows 100 joules of energy to be stored at once but I tested four LEGO power functions LED’s and they lasted for about 7 minutes.

The house has it’s own EV3 controlling the lights and the garage door as well as measuring the houses energy production and usage. It also has two IR sensors (one in the drive and one in the garage) to talk to the car EV3 and the garage door. The energy production and usage can all be found out at the command of your voice to understand your home.

The car can go where ever you need it at the command of your voice. You can also ask it to park in the front drive and ask it to park in the garage. When it is over the IR in the drive it knows to park or to tell the EV3 it is waiting for the garage door to open and the EV3 then activates a motor to open the garage and parks on top of the IR sensor in the garage. The car uses mindstorms IR sensors to figure it’s way around.
