"Rock"et Ship
One night at NASA headquarters, a young engineer was struggling with his latest assignment: increase the hull strength of the new Mars colonization ship while decreasing costs. Suddenly, he had an idea: why not conceal the main bulk of the ship inside a chunk of moon rock? Within months, a large hunk of rock was blasted off of the dark side of the moon and a colony was established. After a couple of years, the spacecraft was completed and sent off to the red planet, carrying hundreds of scientists, dozens of kooky billionaires, and a couple of interplanet hitchhikers!
I hope you like my take on this awesome contest- actually taking the moon to Mars. I had a lot of fun with this build, especially with the SNOT techniques I used to make the rock look natural. The finished ship contains a shuttle for transporting the colonists to the martian surface, a large engine, a command center, and an airlock. If you look closely, you should be able to see the previously mentioned hitchhikers.
