My Spaceship!

You’ve probably guessed from my other entries in this contest, my imagination has always spent a lot of time on Mars. My fandom for the planet began with War of the Worlds and John Carter. It grew from enjoyment of fiction to include an appreciation of space and real science. I credit Percival Lowell, Wrexie Leonard, and (from a later period) Carl Sagan for that second step.

I promised myself that, if I had enough time toward the end of this contest, I’d include a representation of my oldest and only surviving physical MOC. The actual model is 52.56 miles (84.58 km) away as I write this. The reunion will be in about a week. The design isn't particularly special. It is, however, at least 28 years old and I’ve grown quite attached to it. There are no plans to ever take it apart.

This post is not intended as an official entry – more of a “Thank You” to anyone reading this and to LEGO®. The ship’s probably earned a name by now and this post could also count as an invitation for suggestions.
