Odysseus I
Space: the final frontier. These are the voyages of the starship Odysseus I. Its 9 months mission: to bring humanity to Mars, to set up the first colony, to boldly go where no man has gone before.
The Odysseus I is not just a spaceship from a Sci-Fi show, it has the potential to be a very real ship in the near future. It will be built at the Lunar Orbital Platform-Gateway and then use both the rotation around the Moon and strong rocket engines to escape the lunar orbit and head to Mars. With a length of about 600m it will be the largest vehicle ever built by humanity.
The sections:
1) laboratories and sensors
2) Hermes class shuttle docking station (each shuttle is about 70m long, equiped with a rover)
3) solar panels
4) living quarters (~200m in diameter, rotating about 2,1 times per minute so the centripetal force is similar to the earths gravity)
5) building material and food/water storage (containers can be dropped and used to build the first colony)
6) anti asteroid missles
7) main engine
