The Minerva
The Minerva (Roman goddess of war) is designed for
vertical takeoff/landing between a moon base and Mars, and can be used as temporary
living quarters on-planet until a station is built. The ship is made for a crew
of four: two in stasis and two active, allowing crewmembers to rotate on the flight.
The cockpit fits three in horizontal seats surrounded by
controls. Every level opens for easy access. The living area features a
kitchenette, seats/table for in-gravity use, bookshelves, TV, and radio. A
variety of plants grow in the hydroponics bay under growlights. Below the twin
bunks and storage bins is a lavatory featuring a toilet with side handles and
attached hose with funnel, based on those found aboard real spacecraft. The
exercise room contains two pieces of equipment commonly used in space,
treadmill and stationary bike, along with a drinking water tank and TV. Two
stasis chambers are monitored by a control station. The bottom level holds
extra fuel tanks and storage compartments.
