Nostos Starship (Microscale)

The Nostos is assembled in Earth's orbit, with many modules.

The four electric ion engines (Hall thrusters) will accelerate the ship gradually providing enough trust to reach Mars' orbit and come back. The Xenon fuel tanks store enough gas to make the trips.

The Communication Module keeps Earth updated constantly.

The spinning ring simulates gravity and hosts the living quarters, the gym and a greenhouse; to keep the crew fit and prepared to land on Mars.

Solar panels provide electric energy.

The state of the art telescope and antenna can perform high value astronomical observations.

A New Generation Space Shuttle is docked on the ship.

The command bridge hosts the supercomputer that controls the ship's systems.

Most of the remaining pressurized sections are dedicated to scientific experiments and the storage of equipement, food, water, materials for internal reparations.

This model was created new for the sole purpose of this contest.
