Volvo Janus X2

The Janus X2 is an autonomous construction machine that can act as either a loader or a dump truck, replacing the need for two separate vehicles.  It consists of a cabin-less wheeled chassis with a set of lifting arms that can either attach to a bucket or hook onto a container, allowing the Janus to work independently and perform different roles as needed.

In loader configuration, the Janus has the engine and steered axle located at the rear to counterbalance the bucket.  The bucket attaches with a standard twin bar setup and can be raised and tilted.  The lifting arms include a linkage to maintain the bucket's orientation.

In transport mode, the bucket is detached and the engine becomes the "front" of the vehicle.  Then the arms hook onto and pull a container onto the back of the chassis, and the Janus is ready to go.

The model features working steering and pneumatics to operate the lifting arms.
