PROTEUS
VOLVO PROTEUS
THE CONCEPT
PROTEUS is a near-future autonomous self-loading hauler; this combination of roles both reduces the number of construction vehicles required to move loads and the complexity of AI interaction since a loader is not required to interact with a separate hauler. The chassis can be shared with Volvo's wheeled excavators to achieve a better economy of scale.
In an attempt to reduce emissions, PROTEUS is all electric. The chassis is the power plant with 2 on-board graphene super-capacitors as batteries situated in between the wheels on either side. Graphene's advantages are:
- Short charging time
- HIgh capacity for extended operation
- Made from carbon - a renewable resource
To navigate and target areas of operation, PROTEUS is equipped with a combination of sensors:
- Camera
- RADAR
- LIDAR
- Infrared
THE MODEL
- Fully RC physical model
- 4 wheel drive / steering
- Rotating super structure
- Bucket extension / lifting / rotation
- Dumping
- 2 Lipo rechargeable batteries
- 4 receivers
