Volvo CATO
The Volvo Construction and Technical Observer (CATO) is an
all-terrain construction and reconnaissance drone carrier. It is an
all-electric vehicle with two batteries charged by four solar panels.
The Volvo CATO features:
- 14 large wheels that move independently
- A driver’s cabin
- 8 autonomous drones
- An autonomous robotic arm
- A “Ferris Wheel” style carrier that rotates to release and
recover the drones
- Two remote control points – one for the drones and one for
the robotic arm
- Stud cameras in the front, back, and side mirrors
- Charging Port
The drones are used for construction site reconnaissance,
general observation, airlift of building material, and riveting.
Two panels protect the foldable robotic arm while the
vehicle is moving. Each panel has solar cells that charge the Volvo CATO while
the arm is in use.
Design facts: 1976 pieces, sturdy, various movable parts
(the carrier section, drones, wheels, robotic arm, and arm pannels), and fully
playable.
