Volvo ETS 770 with I-Hoist Crane
In the future, trucks are electric, and machines are versatile. The Volvo ETS (Electric Truck System), is a modular, versatile platform allowing for a variety of configurations, including this 14x14 unit shown here. Unlike conventional trucks, the ETS has no transmission loss, and can be run with any number of axles driven. For instance, the truck can run as few as two axles, but can drive all of them if need be, for instance in poor traction conditions. The ETS also has a network of cameras, which provide a superior view of the driver's surroundings versus mirrors. Mounted on the back of the truck is an I-Hoist electric crane. The I-Hoist can function like a regular truck mounted crane, but can also demount from the truck chassis, and deploy crawler units to drive itself. This is useful in many situations, such as in buildings or other places the truck would not be able to fit. The crane is also equipped with a virtual cab, allowing the crane to be driven from within the truck.
