Winners announced
50 years of Dungeons & Dragons!
Join us in celebrating 50 years of Dungeons & Dragons! To celebrate those 50 adventure filled years, we invite you to ignite your imagination and showcase your favorite aspects of the Dungeons & Dragons game using LEGO® bricks, elements and pieces!
This submission invitation runs a bit differently than typical LEGO® Product Idea submissions, so please pay extra attention to the Fine Print and the D&D Content Terms.
You can create your ultimate builds, based on your favorite storylines, monsters, characters, heroes and locations.
We’re talking:
• Detailed Display Model of your Favorite Character or Monster;
• Functional Display Models for Players / Dungeon Masters;
• Ultimate Build with customizable elements;
all rooted in the D&D World
A panel of judges (the “Judges”) consisting of members from the LEGO® IDEAS™ team, and the Wizards of the Coast team, will choose designs from the pool of submissions for the Fan Vote.
Excitingly, all designs that reach the Fan Vote phase, will be eligible to become an official LEGO® IDEAS™ set! Unlike typical LEGO® Product Idea submissions, the Fan Vote phase for this promotion is intended to help the Judges gauge fan interest in specific designs, and validate fan excitement for the theme. The Judges will ultimately choose which model from the Fan Vote phase will become a LEGO® IDEAS™ set, regardless of the number of Fan Votes obtained, although lots of votes certainly helps! Once the final model is selected by our panel of Judges, the fan who submitted the design will have the pleasure of becoming our latest Fan Designer!
What if my design is selected?
The selected Fan Designer will be compensated as outlined in the Product Idea Guidelines and Terms of Service. Specifically, they will receive the following:
- 1% of the total net sales of the LEGO® IDEAS™ Dungeons & Dragons product;
- 10 complimentary copies of your LEGO® IDEAS™ Dungeons & Dragons set;
- Credit and bio in set materials as the LEGO® IDEAS™ Dungeons & Dragons Fan Designer; and
- a prize package of Dungeons & Dragons goodies!
Overview
How it Works
There will be 3 phases, and then final model selection:
- Submission Phase - Create and submit your design before November 14th 2022 at 6:00 a.m. EST. We recommend submitting your design 2-3 days before the deadline in the event we have to return it to you for changes. If you’re not sure what time zone you’re in, here’s a time zone converter.
- Judging Phase - Our judges review the submissions and choose a number of designs (not more than 5) for a fan vote by November 28th 2022.
- Fan Vote Phase - Fans will be invited to show their support for the designs, and the votes collected will help the Judges determine which of the submissions will become the LEGO® IDEAS™ Dungeons & Dragons product – voting will run from November 28th 2022 – December 12th 2022.
- Model Selection Announcement - We share which design has been chosen to become the LEGO® IDEAS™ Dungeons & Dragons product, and will also share the result of the Fan Vote (let’s see if the most votes won the day, or if other aspects made the determination!) on LEGO® IDEAS™ no later than January 5th 2023.
How to submit your design:
- Submissions may be in either physical bricks or by using a digital building tool such as BrickLink Studio. You’re welcome to use image editing tools, such as Photoshop, to enhance your photos/presentation.
- Take up to five photos of your creation and submit them to the LEGO® IDEAS™ platform. Make sure to show off all angles and any features or functions of your creation.
- Please submit your photos in as high a resolution as possible so that we can see all the details clearly. If possible, the shortest edge should be at least 1080 pixels.
- Add a title and short description.
- Upload your submission using the Submit Entry button on this page.
Submission Rules:
In addition to the LEGO® IDEAS™ TERMS OF SERVICE (including, without limitation, the House Rules, Product Idea Guidelines and Privacy Policy), by submitting a LEGO® product idea involving, utilizing or incorporating the DUNGEONS & DRAGONS (“D&D”) intellectual property (a “D&D LEGO® IDEAS™ Submission”), you additionally agree to the “D&D Content Terms” (below). IF YOU DO NOT AGREE TO THESE ADDITIONAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS, DO NOT SUBMIT OR UPLOAD YOUR D&D LEGO® IDEAS™ SUBMISSION. To the extent that the D&D Content Terms conflict with the LEGO® IDEAS™ TERMS OF SERVICE (including, without limitation, the House Rules, Product Idea Guidelines and Privacy Policy), the D&D Content Terms shall prevail, solely with respect to a D&D LEGO® IDEAS™ Submission.
Therefore, make sure you read our Product Ideas guidelines thoroughly to make sure your design can be approved and is eligible for review and voting.
- Submissions must utilize between approximately 50 and 3000 LEGO® elements. At our discretion, we will reject any submissions that we believe to be under or over this brick limit.
- Submissions must be new creations and not previously posted online or previously submitted to any other contest/promotion. Submissions previously made to the LEGO® IDEAS™ platform may be re-submitted as long as they still fit the current Product Ideas guidelines and these Rules, Entry Quality Standards, House Rules Fine Print and D&D Content Terms.
- You are allowed to use any official LEGO® element (e.g. LEGO® System, LEGO® DUPLO®, LEGO® TECHNIC®, LEGO® Mindstorms®, LEGO®Boost™ and any other official LEGO® electronics) in your submission. The LEGO® elements must be genuine (not cut, glued, or otherwise modified). Please be aware that using very old elements that may not exist anymore, and which are crucial to your model, may reduce the chance of your model’s potential success in becoming an official LEGO® IDEAS™ set as the element moulds may not exist anymore.
- Submissions should not contain copies or references to any other existing third-party work or creation or infringements of any third-party intellectual property right. The only intellectual property that your creation may be linked to for this submission invitation is Dungeons and Dragons. Your LEGO® Minifigure™ figurines may look like and represent characters from Dungeons and Dragons.
Submission Quality Standards
- You may submit digital images of your design using BrickLink’s Studio, which is free of charge to download. You are also welcome to create digital submissions using third-party LEGO CAD software.
- You may use photo editing software, such as Photoshop, to enhance your presentation.
- Submissions containing photos that are too dark or blurry will not be approved. To ensure easy judging of your design, we recommend taking pictures on a neutral background free from background clutter, with your model well framed.
- Please do not include people or limbs in pictures you submit. Photos containing such will be removed.
- Please do not overlay any text or logos onto your submitted images.
House Rules
- Submissions containing defamatory or degrading elements will not be eligible and will be rejected.
- Any cheating or harassment of other participants will result in disqualification and/or rejection of a submission, and/or removal from the LEGO® IDEAS™ platform.
- Your submission and comments on submissions must follow the complete LEGO® IDEAS™ House Rules.
Submission Requirements
In order to get your submission approved, your submission must include the following:
- A title*
- Photos of your build
- Your photos and video should be in a: 1:1 aspect ratio/format. Photos and videos that are taller than they are wide will not be accepted.
- A description*
- Entries may have tags, if you wish.
* - Submissions should have correct capitalization and not have any spelling mistakes.
Judging
The Judges (consisting of members from the LEGO® IDEAS™ team and the Wizards of the Coast team), will choose entries for the Fan Vote based on, and not limited to:
- Products on Shelves
- New products currently in internal development
- Production capacity
- Build quality
- Best use of LEGO® elements
- Details
- Originality
- Feasibility
- Expected demand
- Best representation of 50 years of D&D
The Fine Print
- You must be at least 13 years of age to participate and submit a design.
- You may submit multiple models for consideration, but only one submission per person will be considered when the designs are chosen for the Fan Vote phase. This means no single person will have more than one design submission in the Fan Vote phase.
- Creators of the selected submissions will be contacted on the email address associated with their LEGO ID account after November 28th 2022. The full list of designs selected will be announced on LEGO® IDEAS™ when all chosen creators have returned the signed Certification Documents. Any creator who does not return their Certification Document within five (5) business days of receiving it will be disqualified.
- Active participation by way of submissions of any kind is not open to residents of Iran, North Korea, Myanmar/Burma, Zimbabwe, Sudan, Syria, Belarus, Russia or any other country which is subjected to sanctions, for as long as such sanctions remain in place, or where otherwise prohibited or restricted by law. Submissions by residents of Russia will be rejected.
- If you are a resident of Ukraine or Belarus and your design is selected for the Fan Vote phase, or if your submission is ultimately chosen as the LEGO® IDEAS™ Dungeons & Dragons set, your prizes will be shipped at a later date once shipping resumes normal operation.
