Scene: Twin Sunset on Kepler-16b
This scene depicts a lone interstellar traveler - the first human to arrive on Kepler-16b, an exoplanet with two Suns.
The traveler has come to the entrance of a valley, looking out at the awe-inspiring colors of a dual sunset, with the sky smoothly fading into black above harsh brown terrain. The traveler has two shadows, one for each Sun.
I designed this model to convey both the inhospitality and isolation of space travel, as well as the intense beauty and grandeur found in alien worlds. It is based on an artist's impression of a real exoplanet, the first to be detected orbiting two stars. Human exploration of this planet is likely hundreds, or even thousands of years away - so a scene like this is part of a very distant future.
For now, we can enjoy the view through Lego.
