The Secret Life Of: Autism
Welcome to the secret life of autism! I was recently diagnosed with autism, and in the past few years, I have become increasingly more aware that most people don't experience life in the same way that autistic people do. Because of this, and because I thought it would be fun, I decided to use Lego to recreate the abstract, confusing, and unique world of autism.
The build has many thematic elements that convey different aspects of autism:
- The majority of the display is black and white, representing how autistic people view the world.
- Underneath is a colourful base, which illustrates how much emotion autistic people feel.
- Through the doorway, there is a dark grey abyss, representing the grey areas of life, like change, uncertainty, and anything unfamiliar.
- The two people to the right of the autistic person also are grey, which portrays how hard socializing can be.
Thanks for checking out my project!
