Interactive Preservation Lab Exhibit
Kids who visit the Natural History Museum will especially love the Interactive Preservation Lab Exhibit. Imagine stepping up to a window and speaking with the staff of this working exhibit. Picture yourself handling the artifacts and models, examining them with a magnifying glass, and even looking at portions of them through a swiveling microscope.
The museum team cleans and photographs every item that comes in, and the security camera watches overhead. Among items available to observe and handle are: Medieval jousting lances, a pirate spyglass and treasure chest, documents, and moon rocks. Larger items to observe are: the cannon, Velociraptor, and saber-toothed tiger.
Keypad entry allows special permission to observe the lab more closely, including the guarded intake room, preservation areas, staff photography from the floor and a swiveling ladder, and the final staging area before items are moved out to a display.
The IPLE is not just for kids. Everyone can enjoy it!
