Extinct Moa

Native to Aotearoa New Zealand, the 12 foot tall Moa weighed around 230 kg and were hunted by the native Maori people for food. The amazing bird went extinct in 1445. In the same year the Haast Eagle also died out. The terrifying winged predator relied on the Moa for food and so no more Moa equaled no more Haast Eagle.
