Into the Monarch Forest.
The new wing of the museum, set in an old industrial site, opens a new exhibition after the success of the hydrothermal vents exposition! Seeking further immersiveness, and providing the perfect background for pictures in social media, visitors can now walk into an ancient oyamel forest where the monarch butterfly stays for the winter. Modelled after the Mexican biosphere reserve and world heritage, the show portrays the amazing and delicate spectacle of hundreds of thousands of black and orange butterflies clustering on the fir trees like a living tapestry. Even if the trees are just built around scaffolding, and the butterflies are replicas, the clever layout lets the visitors experience the privilege of walking into one of the greatest wonders in nature: the massive migration of the monarch butterfly! :)
