Sacrilege or Rock’n’roll?
My model captures one of the many iconic Rock’n’roll moments of the 60s. The audience was mostly shocked when Jimi Hendrix set fire to his Fender Stratocaster during his first major US appearance in Monterey, CA on June 18, 1967. Smashing it was just not enough anymore. For him, announcing it as a tribute and sacrifice (to the Gods of Rock’n’roll?) it worked out.
If you never listened to the live coverage of the Monterey performance, please do, it is awesome.
Being a guitar player myself, I am truly torn. I always would have liked to own a Fender Stratocaster, so seeing it destroyed is somewhat agonizing. But then... the 60s, where so many barriers still needed to be overcome. Sometimes by displays of burning guitars.
I hope you like my approach on the Fender Strat! Love Jimi's ruffled shirt. Finally, the much-awaited macaroni 3x3. LEGO, I love it, yay!
What do you think? Sacrilege or rock`n`roll? And if you like my contribution to this contest, please vote, too 😊
