Pentomino Set
I have a set of pentominoes that I sometimes play around with, and it occurred to me that I could make a set out of Legos. Of course, I also needed to make a box to store them in!
I wanted my set to look like a piece of "Americana", so I chose a style and color palette that might emulate the look and feel of something made in the late forties or early fifties. Obviously, the pentomino pieces could have been all of a single color instead of the mixed color palette I chose. And the box could also be made to look like a wooden chest or something similar.
I considered a hinged lid, but decided to make the base of the box nest into the lid instead. I chose to size the box to a 6 x 10 grid, which enables more than 2,000 solutions to this puzzle. Two different solutions are shown in the pictures.
This was a lot of fun to create and turned out well, I think!
