Rolex Submariner Model 6205
When considering a timeless object, what is better than that which controls time itself?
For my submission, I have chosen to consider one of the most famous watches in the world, the Rolex Submariner, in particular the very first model, the 6205 from 1954.
I chose this watch because not only is it my Father's favourite (it is something he speaks highly of despite never owning), but because there are few watch models that have survived for so long. Even today, this waterproof wristwatch - one of the first in the world - is the choice for many divers.
My model comes in at approximately 1:2 scale, with a frictionless chain bracelet simulating the real thing. It sits on a replica of a Rolex Watch stand - balanced and carefully designed to fulfil purpose and interest during the construction despite its simplicity.
I also included a small display commemorating the Watch's original face writing (which I could not fit on the model), and Rolex founders Hans Wildorf and Alfred Davis.
Thank you.
