Gilded Antique Clock
I have such strong memories of quiet afternoons spent pouring over my grandmother’s shelves of curios and heirlooms; centered proudly on the mantle was this beautiful antique clock which, as a child, I adored watching the glimpses of delicate gold interior gears smoothly powering the slim clock hands in endless motion.
In recreating this clock design in Lego, the gold leaves, pillars, and accents represent the gilded inlays which craftsmen meticulously cut into the wooden body and embossed with golden accents. The sweeping wings which frame the clock face and the decor below nod to the ornate arches that commonly adorn these clocks.
Both sides feature three clever balusters, sleekly complimented by the vertical patterned grille bricks behind them, while the back is built from alternating brick forms to create decorative rails and waving trim. Between the decorative accents, take a peak in the arched access panel and see the gears and golden arrow that support the clock face itself!
