Vintage Transportation: The Age of Blimps
I've always been fascinated by blimps (also known as Zeppelins) so I tried to build one. It was quite difficult to get the shape right as I wanted it to be studless. Another challenge was to design the tail, fins and gondola.
For the buildings and glass houses I was inspired by drawings from François Schuiten as I thought his aesthetics went perfectly with my Zeppelin. He is a Belgian artist (like me) who published comics where stories evolve in fantasy cities and buildings inspired, amongst others, by the Art Deco style which is well represented in Brussels, together with the Art Nouveau style. These stories very often involve blimps as a means of transportation.
There are quite a few nice parts used in this MOC but my favorites are the standard and Belville transparent chest lids. The standard one is used upside down for the gondola and the Belville one for the top of the rectangular glass house.
