Scientific Innovations of Japan

I present my first Lego creation. In honor of my chemistry mentor, Dr. Omura, the creator of the widely used medicine 22,23-dihydro-avermectin B1a which has saved millions from devastating infections, I have dedicated this build which aims to blend the classical and modern aspects of Japan. In the center is the molecular structure of the drug, disguised as stones in the middle of a pond, with each element accurately represented by the specific shade of the stones. In gold is the year Dr. Omura was recognized with the Nobel Prize in Physiology/Medicine, being one of only five Japanese citizens to be awarded the prize. On the top is a scientist searching for compounds found in nature (22,23-dihydro-avermectin was first isolated from Japanese soil). On the bottom right is an NMR spectrometer, a vital technology for determining the structure of new molecules, and on the bottom left is a laboratory. On the edges are chemical flasks being used as lamps to light up the area.
