The Sakura Samurai

The Japanese culture reminds me of:

  • Stories filled with quests, adventures, brave warriors, mythical creatures, and scary villains.
  • Modern renditions of ancient Japanese art, often with a lone traveler in a canoe, a bright red sun, and a couple of cherry blossom trees.
  • Tranquility. The kind found in a serene garden or a quite cup of tea… but also the kind that acts as a gentle, yet compelling force that is so powerful that it can change the course of history, as was the case in the story of the samurai warrior whose heart was changed by a single flower from a cherry blossom tree (Sakura). His name is not known; he is simply remembered as the Sakura Samurai and to this day his statue, erected in memory of his courage, still stands next to the cherry blossom tree that changed his life.
