Tranquil Japanese Macaques
The Japanese macaque (also known as the snow monkey) is the only species of monkey that lives in Japan. They live on three of the four main Japanese islands and play significant roles in Japanese folklore, religion, and art. Japanese macaques are famous for descending from the mountains of Nagano Prefecture to bathe in the hot springs at Jigokudani Monkey Park, earning them their nickname.
Jigokudani Monkey Park is the inspiration for this 1,337-piece model, which includes three snow monkeys relaxing in a tranquil hot spring surrounded by snow-covered mountains, with one cheeky monkey trying to decide if she should fall back asleep or stir up some mischief for the tourists.
