Tea Time at the Pagoda
My submission is based on the feeling of tranquility, tradition and nature, versus modernity in Japanese culture.
In the past, pagodas were used to hold relics but now are historical monuments. The villagers are engaged in tea-time (an ancient activity), but they now have briefcases and modern clothes, and it is a more casual social occasion. The Koi pond is inspired by the Japanese gardens, which remain a part of Japanese landscape architecture. The cherry blossoms seen by the pond and trees are a symbol of new beginnings and around them are white shima (long-tailed) birds. Above the tree is the red sun which is a symbol of Japan. The mountain in the background is mount Fuji; this mountain is visible from Tokyo and forms part of the skyline.
Japan is a great source of LEGO inspiration.
