A Hole With Consequences

The Hole

Max and Bob are working on a construction site somewhere in the city. They spent the whole morning digging a large hole in the street to conduct sewer inspections and set up barriers. "Watch your step! The hole is really deep!" Max exclaimed. "Oh, I know what I'm doing, because I digged the hole—" CRACK! Before Bob could finish his sentence, he stumbled and disappeared into the sewer water with a loud splash. Max leaned over the edge and saw his colleagues floating in the water. Bob spat out a load of sewer water. "Let's put it this way... the sewer inspection is complete: everything looks fine down there, I'm soaking wet, and I could use some clean clothes, too..." Tom nodded, smiling. "And later I'll get us a pizza. The one down there didn't look so fresh anymore."
