Princess Mononoke (1997)
This artistic tribute to the acclaimed hit anime film Princess Mononoke centres on the eponymous wolf princess wearing her red face paint, crystal necklace and white fur hood with ears. San is surrounded by adorable kodama, who famously look from the treetops to see the blue glow of the Nightwalker's arrival at moonrise. Displayed in the forest is warrior prince Ashitaka riding Yakul with his cursed arm, and San riding the wolf goddess Moro. Also included are film antagonists Lady Eboshi, whose gun is stopped by the Forest Spirit's plants, and Jigo with a bear disguise and parasol.
Why I built it
The film's epic story, peacemaking message and breathtaking visuals have given it cult status worthy not only of a set but also an artistic tribute.
Why it would make a great set
While still being playable, imaginative fun for children, the varied scales and techniques suit the "Adults Welcome" range of Lego Art displays for artistic builders, as well as adult fans of the global 90s hit.
