Italian Road-Trip: Milan - Florence - Rome (Mechanical Model)
When I saw this contest, I knew exactly where I would want to take my Ducati - back to it's country of origin, on a road-trip down the back-roads of Italy from Milan to Florence to Rome.
This model is FUNCTIONAL: Referencing the incredible capabilities of the real Ducati Panigale, and the awesome functionality of the official Lego model, this build features a rotating mechanism that pauses three times a rotation to display the next city to be reached by my miniature Ducati, which weaves back and forth as if in the act of turning.
This model is VERY DUCATI: I had a lot of fun recreating the athletic, menacing angles of the Ducati, and did my best to include the Ducati logo on the base.
This model TELLS A STORY: I was very excited to build this model, as I had the privilege of travelling across Italy, and making it to each of these three cities over December. It was a great challenge to recreate famous landmarks I had visited in Lego bricks, constrained by size.
