Pumpkin Spider - Aka: Arachno’lantern
Meet the Pumpkin Spider, AKA the Arachno’Lantern- These beasties are particularly nasty due to how big they get, the largest known specimen was the size of a forklift and weighed a ton!
The scariest trait of pumpkin spiders is their ability to rapidly procreate- as an invasive species they quickly become an overwhelming infestation- Once a pumpkin spider matures, its eight vine-legs will continuously produce more offspring, which, once fat enough, drop off the vines to roam free- until after a few days the young spiders mature and the reproductive cycle repeats-
In the old days farmers found Pumpkin spiders useful not only because they eat insects harmful to crops, but they also eat rats, crows, feral cats, stray dogs, and even the occasional errant child-
FIRE is the only way to cleanse a Pumkin Spider infestation, which is how they got the nickname Arachno’Lanterns and I’ve heard they smell most heavenly as they burn, just like pumpkin pie!
Happy Halloween! Remember thy ABCs!
