Coral Reef
Marine Biology is my favorite science. Coral Reefs make up one of the most diverse ecosystems on the planet, which is why they are often called the “rainforests of the sea”. There are thousands of species of coral across the world’s oceans, and the habitats surrounding them supports thousands of other ocean organisms - 25% of the species living in the oceans depend on this ecosystem!
Coral polyps take many forms, including reefs and graceful flowing fans, and I tried to represent several of those forms in this display. I also included 3 more recognizable marine organisms - a Blue Tang, an Angelfish, and a baby moray eel peeking its head out on the bottom. A representation of a Marine ecosystem in LEGO form could inspire a new generation with the exciting world of Marine Biology and cause people to reflect on the importance of ocean conservation. It brings the beauty of the reef into your home.
This set is 731 pieces and I did my best to limit part recolors to a minimum.
