Creating a Mission to Jupiter
In order to celebrate STEM, I wanted to showcase both the unique aspects of each discipline (as the foundation) and a completed project utilizing all four elements (a satellite orbiting Jupiter) showcased on top.
Science – Here I have an observatory with a telescope looking at the stars. Is that a planet in the sky?
Technology –To create a distinction between technology and engineering, I used a simple computer scene for my technology piece. Is the minifigure working on some computer code? Communicating with the satellite? With dual screens, he can do both!
Engineering – In the lab, we see a couple of engineers working on the rocket which will take the satellite into orbit. One engineer is supervising the assembly of the main body, while the other is inspecting the nose cone.
Math – For this section, I have a mathematician working on a chalkboard. There are also a few math textbooks on a table nearby and a portrait of the father of calculus, Isaac Newton!
