“Hello Somewhere” Desert-Comms Tower
An old rusted telephone/video call rig, maintained by a lone technician. The only thing letting anyone get a call over or out a vast desert. No mobile/landlines.
Play out a repeatable scenario of being in charge comms equipment; faking technical errors to then act out a problem solving process.
- Fuel the generator.
- Check the wiring. Maybe re-wire it, by clicking the pieces in/out. A different, brick-only form would work instead, if stickers are impractical.
- Push the lever to activate the rig. Read the screens.
- Rotate the upper bit of the array via wheel; get a clearer signal.
- Handle caller lines on the operator’s board.
- Maybe call a very-vocal vulture to talk about lunch.
The phones, generator, wire box and console can be detached intact from the ground/tower and set up elsewhere. Maybe with other ‘electrical’ items, or for entirely different purposes.
Two builders could each set up a phone in their own models, and rely on the technician to manage the comms for them.
994 pieces.
