Madness of the Mind Flayer
The Mind Flayer is at the core of what Dungeons and dragons is. Creative, imaginative, and thrilling. One of the best villains to grace the tabletop, Mind Flayers are exemplary of just how weird the game can get when it explores the areas of the unknown. This creativity and originality is exactly why it pairs so well with LEGO, which encourages outside the box thinking and collaborative imagination at every turn. Being one of the oldest monsters in D&D, the Mind Flayer makes an ideal subject for an anniversary set.
The model itself features articulation at the waist, neck, shoulders, elbows, hands, fingers, and tentacles giving it a wide range of poses and gravitas. It holds a staff of some eldritch psionic power. Traditionally Mind Flayers would be lavender in color however, since the tentacle piece I wanted to use has never been made in that color, I decided to go with dark blue instead, keeping the purple in the palate with the trim on its robe.
